Another helpful way to use the US DOT T2 data is to create a snapshot of the US airline industry. The recent data is current through year-end 2024.
Below is our public snapshot. A more detailed, 23-page version is available to subscribers in our data library.
This four-page model proves a valuable overview of the state of the industry.
Notes:
- Page 1 shows each airline’s relative size by number of domestic flights on the upper chart. The lower diagram shows the share of these flights by aircraft type. Click on an airline brand to see both charts move.
- Page 2 shows three charts with metrics. The menus at the top of the page allow you to drill down.
- Page 3 shows another three metrics, and the menu on the left allows you to select periods. To combine periods, use the control button and click on the periods.
- Page 4 shows a dynamic model you can activate using the play button at the bottom left. You can also click on any ball to see how it moves over time. The number of flights drives the ball size.
